A way to control this is to 'hold' the animation: take the smoothed animation done by the program and make it hold that key pose for longer. The reason this isn't good is because humans aren't constantly in a smooth motion from one pose to another, we pick up speed and drop it depending on the action and stay stuck in poses for amounts of time. This means that the computer finds the shortest route between each position, and animates all the frames in between. The way that 3D animations are done now is that the animator will make the main poses, then 'spline' it. When I say "holds", I'm referring to the timing of the animation. Note that most competent rigs will have a way to switch between IK and FK, even in the middle of an animation. This is generally an easier way to animate 'acting' and movement that doesn't require interacting with objects. Anything that requires the hands or feet to not slide a lot. Notice how the hands and feet are stuck in place while the joints adjust around them? This is useful for picking up objects, running or walking, etc. If it isn't done correctly, the animator can have a lot of trouble moving things naturally. It allows the animator to move everything without damaging the original model. I could go on for a lot longer but I dont think anyone is gonna read this anyways.Ī rig is the control system of the model. The lighting is also a bit fucked in some places, super overexposed. The materials don't mesh together very well. I'm pretty sure this wasn't intentional because the timing is all fucked up when he dances but you never know. Not sure if this was intentional, but the animator left out the holds, so instead of being snappier and more realistic the animation comes out very floaty and soft.

Definitely legs are IK but not sure about arms. I think the animator left his arms and legs in IK (a type of control system based on animating around the end points like hands or feet, where the end points are locked in place) which is fine but requires a lot more polish to get looking right. The lipsync is very off but it looks like it was the rigger's fault, doesn't look like there's many controls on the mouth. I havent seen the animator/animation team behind this before, but it's so obvious it was either rushed as hell or they're inexperienced.
